COVID Status
UHN is currently in the "Yellow" Covid restriction phase for staffing and for business and research meetings.
On site research staffing density - 50% of pre-pandemic levels is permitted.
Meetings – In-person meetings are limited based on the meeting room capacity limits needed to support 2m distancing. Masking is required during the meeting and no food is allowed. For educational meetings, physical distancing and room capacity limits do not need to be followed but masking is required and no food is allowed. Virtual meetings are still encouraged where feasible.
UHN requires that staff and visitors (including research participants) coming to UHN sites are fully vaccinated (at least two doses).
Visitor policy - Technicians, vendors and visitors for business meetings or research activities are allowed on site as long as they meet the latest UHN screening criteria. KITE Restart does not need to be notified of the visits.
Tours - Tours are allowed at KITE sites. Full tour guidelines are listed in the Kite Restart Tour Policy document on the Return to Work (RTW) web application dashboard.
Social Gatherings - In-person social gatherings are not permitted indoors at UHN sites in Phase Yellow. Outdoor gatherings require physical distancing of at least 2m whenever masks are removed.
Clinical research is allowed up to 100% of pre-pandemic activity.
The Home, Community and Institutional Environments Team develops technologies to help older adults and individuals with disabilities live more safely and independently by preventing falls and ensuring safe mobility. They also develop technologies to prevent the spread of infection and to help caregivers avoid back injuries. The team implements their goals by bringing successful new products to the market, making important changes to policy and introducing new therapies to clinical practice.
